Abohar murder case: Police arrests Akali leader Shiv Lal Doda's nephew Amit Doda

Fazilka: In a fresh development in the Abohar murder case, Police on Sunday arrested Amit Doda, the nephew of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Shiv Lal Doda.

13 others have also been taken into the custody, as per ANI.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Charanjit Singh Channi today visited the home of the victim Bhim Sain here. The Centre had yesterday announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the Sain's family.

Channi had on Wednesday demanded lodging of a criminal case and arrest of liquor baron and Akali leader Shiv Lal Doda for his alleged connection with the murder of a Dalit man, and threatened a stir if Punjab government failed to take any action.

The CLP leader had served a four-day ultimatum to the Parkash Singh Badal government to arrest and register a criminal case against Shiv Lal Doda and his nephew Amit Doda.

Badal, who is the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, had earlier said that the incident in Abohar was an inter-gang war.

The Congress has been vehemently protesting in the Rajya Sabha against the Dalit killings in Punjab and is demanding the dismissal of the Punjab government.

27-year-old Bhim Sain was brutally murdered by suspected henchmen of the liquor baron by chopping his limbs off, his associate was grievously injured.
