The Union Health Ministry will send a three-member team to Manipur on Tuesday to assess the ground situation after a strong earthquake hit the northeastern region on Monday, leaving six dead and 90 others injured.

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry will send a three-member team to Manipur on Tuesday to assess the ground situation after a strong earthquake hit the northeastern region on Monday, leaving six dead and 90 others injured.

Health Minister JP Nadda said that his Ministry is constantly in touch with the North Eastern states affected by the earthquake and all support is being provided to them.

 

At least six persons were killed and over 90 injured as a 6.7 magnitude earthquake with epicentre in Manipur hit the northeastern region.

Manipur bore the brunt of the temblor which struck at 4.35 am with its epicentre at Tamenglong district at a depth of 17 km below the ground.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and other chief ministers of North Eastern states to take stock of the situation.
