Want to get your account 'verified' on Twitter? Here is how you can get 'blue badge'

New Delhi: Here is a good news for many Twitter users who always wanted to get their accounts verified like popular public figures and high-profile celebrities.

The microblogging-cum-social media portal has announced that it has created an online application process for accounts to receive ‘verified’ status.

Verified accounts on Twitter allow people to identify key individuals and organisations as authentic, and are denoted by a blue check mark icon.

At present, a select number of companies, celebrities, journalists, politicians and other high-profile figures, who are more likely to be impersonated, are allowed to flash the ''blue badge''.

To get the coveted blue badge, one needs to answer a few questions and prove his dentity.

The Twitter help page says, “We approve account types maintained by users in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.”

But even if you fall within one of those categories, the road to verification is not easy.

You will have to fill out a form with your personal details, and also explain why you should be verified.

“If the account represents a person, we want to understand their impact in their field. If it represents a corporation or company, let us know their mission,” the Twitter help page states.

You may also been asked submit a scanned copy of a valid government-issued identity card for confirmation.

The application process started rolling out on Tuesday. Click Here to get started.
