New Delhi: In an indication of its popularity on the social media, the Facebook page of Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry has hit 2,00,000 'Likes'.
“In an attempt to apprise beneficiaries about the policies framed and the schemes unveiled for them, the social media wing of the ministry puts out content from which every common person can benefit,” a statement from the ministry said.
Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi had taken to Facebook on Wednesday to have a one-on-one interaction with people through a live Facebook chat.
“The activity reached out to nearly one lakh persons with over 1,600 questions received. The minister has promised to answer all the questions personally,” the ministry said.
“Keeping with the desire of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to connect with citizens online, the Women and Child Development Ministry is now reaching out to people through popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube among others,” it added.
