Thane: A 21-year-old youth from Kashi Mira area here been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl twice, police said today.
Fazal Mohammad Siddiqui befriended the 15-year-old girl known to his brother in July and sexually abused her on the pretext of marriage, Assistant Police Inspector S B Moklikar said.
The accused took her to Velankanni, a pilgrimage in the district recently and raped her twice there, the complaint lodged by the girl on August 29 said.
Siddiqui was arrested yesterday and produced in a local court which remanded him to nine days police custody, he said.
A case has been registered under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
