Nagpur ATS arrests three people who were planning to join Islamic State

According to the Nagpur ATS, the arrested people are from Telangana and were going to Jammu and Kashmir.

Mumbai: The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Saturday arrested three persons in Nagpur, suspecting that they were planning to join world's most dreaded terror outfit Islamic State (IS).

The three were held at Nagpur airport.

According to the Nagpur ATS, the arrested people are from Telangana and were going to Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident comes days after Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that Centre had achieved considerable success as far as the terror outfit was concerned.

Earlier on Tuesday, the ATS detained a person in Pune suspecting that he was one of the three missing Mumbai youths suspected to have joined IS.

Notably, in May last year, four youths from Kalyan township in neighbouring Thane district had gone to Syria to join the IS.

A Pune-based 16-year-old Muslim girl, who was reportedly radicalised by her IS contacts abroad and brain-washed to go to Syria, was questioned by ATS sleuths earlier this month and sent to a de-radicalisation programme.
