New Delhi: At a time when Kashmir continues to simmer over Hizbul Mujahidden commander Burhan Wani's killing, Major General (retired) GD Bakshi gives an insight of the difficulties faced by an Indian Army soldier, while his posting in the Valley.
The decorated Army officer lambasted the violent mobs in Kashmir saying, they are hell bent upon killing the soldiers, policemen, snatching arms of the security forces. Venting out his anger, he said which self-respecting nation would tolerate such a nonsense.
Mincing no words, the retired major general came down heavily on the 'Human Rights' campaigners saying, there is a lobby in the country, which just believe in Fashionista and candle light marches. Bakshi said, the tragedy is “For a jawan there are no human rights.”
He criticised some of the politicians for not respecting the martyrs. “If you cannot respect a martyred soldier, keep your mouth shut,” the retired major general exhorted.
Normal life remained affected for the 26th consecutive day in the Valley due to the curbs imposed by the authorities and separatist sponsored strike against the killing of civilians during clashes which erupted in the wake of killing of Wani in an encounter on July 8.
