Tight slap to separatists! J&K youths turn up in huge numbers for Army recruitment test

Srinagar: In a befitting reply to separatists, Jammu and Kashmir youths turned up in large numbers, to give Army recruitment test in Anantnag district on Wednesday.

Notably, the separatists had asked the youths not to participate in the test.

The youths' positive response is a tight slap to separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik who have advocated for bandhs across the Valley and pushed the next generation to get involved in stone-pelting incidents.

Recently J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had said that only five percent of the Kashmir population want to incite violence in the state.

Kashmir has been witnessing unending violence since Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed by the security forces on July 08.

A total of 89 people have been killed and over 11,500 injured in the ongoing unrest in the Kashmir Valley that started on July 9.

Curfew was today in force in only three police station areas of Srinagar city in Kashmir, as the curbs were lifted from other parts following improvement in the situation.

However, normal life remained affected in the Valley for the 75th straight day.

Schools, colleges and other educational institutions also continued to remain shut.

Mobile internet services also remained suspended, while the outgoing calls on prepaid numbers continued to remain barred across the Valley.

In one of the deadliest attacks on the Army in the recent years, 18 jawans were killed and over 20 others injured as heavily armed suspected Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants, stormed an Army base at Uri town in north Kashmir's Baramulla district in the wee hours on Sunday.
