New York: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah was on Sunday subjected to "random secondary immigration check" by the US authorities at an airport upon his arrival in New York.

Taking to microblogging platform Twitter, the 46-year-old said that this happens every time he visited the US.

Omar, who is in New York to speak at an event organised by the New York University, also said the random checks are growing "tiresome now".

In a series of tweets from the airport, Omar said that he was subjected to another "random" secondary immigration check upon landing in the US.

"Thrice in three visits, the randomness is growing tiresome now," he said.

"I just spent TWO hours in a holding area and this happens EVERY time. Unlike @iamsrk I don't even catch Pokemon to pass the time," he said.
