Srinagar: Pakistan Army violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing at Mendhar Sector in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, to which the Indian troops gave a befitting reply, a defense spokesman said. 

The Pakistani Rangers opened fire at 9:15 am today using 120 mm mortars, 82 mm mortars, automatics and small arms, as per the report.

No casualties have been reported on Indian side till last reports came in.

This is the 101st incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, following India's surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC) on September 29.  

In an another incident, one Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed and two Indian personnel were left injured in a gunbattle between security forces and militants in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir early today. 

This came hours after an Indian soldier was killed and two civilians were injured in Pakistan firing at RS Pura Sector in the state.
