After Pampore seize, police bust JeM module in J&K, Pakistani militant held

Srinagar: Police in Jammu and Kashmir have busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and arrested a militant who allegedly hails from Pakistan.

The module was busted in North Kashmir’s Baramulla town.

The development comes days after the deadly Pampore encounter happened in which five security personnel, three militants and one civilian were killed.

Citing the J&K police, the Indian Express said that the arrested Pakistani militant was part of a four member fidayeen squad that had attacked an Army camp at Tanghdar in November last year.

The arrested militant managed to escape from the spot after three of his associates were killed in the attack, police said.

The police has identified the arrested militant as Mohammad Sadiq from Sailkot, Pakistan.

Sadiq has reportedly revealed the details regarding his handlers and the people who helped him in Kupwara and Baramulla districts in the past two months.

The police said that they have detained five of his associates later.

“Based on specific information that a Pakistani Fidayeen militant has made entry in the town, multiple operations were launched in and around Baramulla by joint teams of Police, CRPF and Army. After sustained operations a Pakistani Fidayeen was overpowered near Kanispora and apprehended,” the newspaper quoted a police spokesman as saying.
