Kozhikode: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) on Saturday said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was not practical and questioned the Union government`s reason for raising it now.
"Already there is a case in this regard going on in the Supreme Court and the Sharia law has to be discussed and debated by that community. We have learned that there is a questionnaire being circulated on UCC. We are of the firm view that UCC is not in the interest of all and not practical too," said Kunhalikutty, a former state Minister and now the deputy leader of the Congress-led United Democratic Front in the Kerala assembly.
