Kolkata: 72-hours after no arrest was made in Kolkata IAF personnel hit-and-run case, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien on Saturday said that his party has nothing to do with the case.

"We've nothing to do with people involved in hit-and-run case, they can be the members of the party but they are not Trinamool Congress leaders," Derek O' Brien said.

Adding further Brien said that neither the driver not his father is associated with Trinamool Congress. However, he expressed hopes that the culprit will be punished soon.

"It was a reckless demon of a driver, car owner has no connection with Trinamool Congress. Neither driver nor his father is related to the party anyways, however law of the land will punish the culprit soon," he said.

21-year-old IAF corporal Abhimanyu Gaud was mowed down by a speeding Audi SUV on January 13 during the Republic Day parade rehearsal in Kolkata. After hitting Gaud, the speeding Audi rammed into a barricade after which Sohrab left the car and fled away.

72-hours have been passed since the incident, however no arrest has been made in the case so far. According to Kolkata police, Ambiya Sohrab, son of Trinamool leader Mohammed Sohrab was behind the wheel when the incident took place.

Police in Kolkata have issued a lookout notice against Mohammed Sohrab and his son Ambia Sohrab, who are untraceable since the incident took place.
