New Delhi: The Madhya Pradesh Police has sought a reply from a young constable for writing a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and demanding a pay hike so that he can live a respectable life.

The 28-year-old Suraj Singh Chundawat, posted in Burhannpur, had written this letter on April 21. He had also shared it on Facebook.

Chundawat's letter, which went viral with several likes and shares on Facebook and WhatApp, has irked his top bosses. Now his own department has served him a notice and sought a reply from him.

In his letter, Chundawat praised the CM for his development work and progress in the state. In the next half of the letter, Chundawat tried to bring a policeman's plight to the CM's notice.

"Is being a policeman a crime? We are working at a very less salary. We stay away from our families for long. Some time we have to work without food and proper sleep. Whenever there is question about our salary hiked, we are told about budget constraint. Even two people can't survive on the salary which is paid to a policeman," Chundawat wrote.

"Posting such a letter on social media by Mr Chundawat is a violation of Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Conduct Rules and we are issuing a notice to him to seek his reply on the matter," Superintendent of Police, Burhannpur, Anil Singh Kushwaha told news agency PTI.
