New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and scholar Subramanian Swamy on Monday backed Shiv Sena's demand to allow no cricket ties with Pakistan, stating the same was done with Israel and South Africa in the period between 1950-1990.
Swamy took to Twitter and wrote, “Why play cricket with Pakistan when we during 1950-90 refused to play any game with Israel and South Africa and sickulars cheered?”

Swamy's shared his views on the micro blogging site hours after Shiv Sena stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office to protest against the meeting with the Pakistan Cricket board to discuss the India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December.
The Shiv Sainiks held noisy protests by shouting slogans at the Board office during which BCCI President Shashank Manohar was ghearoed and forced to cancel the much-anticipated talks today between him and Khan.
The protesting Sena workers were later taken into custody by the police.
Waving black and saffron flags, the workers sought to know from Manohar if he would go ahead with his meeting with the PCB chief here.
Sena Vibhag Pramukh Pandurang Sakpal told reporters that his party is firm that there should be no cricket matches between the two countries.
Asked about Sena being a part of the Maharashtra government, Sakpal said, "The government will do its job, we will do ours."
"What we did today is Sena's stance," he said.
