In an effort to sensitise people towards African citizen against the alleged 'racial' attacks on them, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday asked fellow Indians to be nice to the community.

New Delhi: In an effort to sensitise people towards African citizen against the alleged 'racial' attacks on them, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday asked fellow Indians to be nice to the community.

Sushma, who is quite active on Twitter, wrote, “I appeal to fellow Indians. Next time you meet an African citizen, please shake hand and say 'India loves you'.”

Swaraj's tweet comes in wake of the brutal murder of a Congolese youth in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj on May 20.

23-year-old Oliva was on his was home when he got into an argument with three to four persons. The argument later led to a fight after which the African youth was chased and beaten with sticks and stones.

He was then rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
