New Delhi: Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has decided to appeal against the verdict passed by a green court over slapping Rs 5 crore fine on the Art of Living (AoL) for organising a cultural event on the fragile banks of Yamuna this weekend.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had on Wednesday faulted every concerned government agency over the World Culture Festival and slapped a Rs 5 crore fine on its organisers, but it did not stay the event.
The NGT also fined the central government-led Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Rs 5 lakh and another Rs 1 lakh on the Delhi Pollution Control Committee.
Taking to Twitter, the spiritual leader said:
दिल से हम ने दिल्ली वालों से कहा, यमुना के किनारे थोड़ी सी ज़मीन दो;
(1) — Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (@SriSri) March 9, 2016
(2) — Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (@SriSri) March 9, 2016
— Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (@SriSri) March 9, 2016
