New Delhi: Indian on Tuesday withdrew three staff members of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, who were accused of being involved in 'subversive activities' in Pakistan.
Sources in the External Affairs Ministry that while three Indian officials posted at High Commission in Islamabad returned to the country today, the decision regarding remaining five officials is yet to be taken.
The Pakistan government had on November 3 named eight Indian staffers at High Commission and accused them of carrying out 'anti-Pakistan' activities. Pakistan had accused the eight staffers of being members of India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The development came after India detained and later expelled a staff member of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi over espionage charge.
Geo News, quoting sources, reported that three officials -- First Secretary commercial Anurag Singh, Vijay Kumar Varma and Madhawan Nanda Kumar left for Dubai from Islamabad on a morning Emirates flight.
Five other Indian High Commission officials – Rajesh Kumar Agnihotri, Amerdeep Singh Bhatti, Dharmendra Sodhi, Balbir Singh and Jayabalan Senthil -- will leave for India via road through the Wagah border, the report said.
However, there was no official confirmation from the Indian government on how many Indian officials had left Pakistan and were expected to leave the country.
