Smriti Irani's car accident on Yamuna Expressway: FIR says her convoy's car killed doctor

Agra: An FIR registered in connection with an accident that had led to a vehicle pile-up on the Yamuna Expressway on Saturday night mentions Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani's cavalcade.

As per the Times of India, the FIR states that a motorcycle was hit by a car in the minister's convoy.

While the rider - Agra-based doctor Ramesh Nagar - was killed on the spot, two children riding pillion on the bike were injured.

As per the report, the family alleged that the children – deceased's daughter and nephew – could get proper medical attention only after seven hours.

Meanwhile, Smriti Irani had tweeted after the accident, "For all enquiring re (garding) my accident - I'm fine. Thank you for the concern and wishes."

"There was a pile-up of vehicles due to an accident on the expressway. Unfortunately, the police vehicle before mine and my car also crashed...Tried to help the injured who were lying on the road for quite some time and ensured they reach a hospital. Pray for their safety," the minister had tweeted.

However, Abhishek Nagar, the deceased doctor's son, filed the FIR and contradicted the minister's claim.

He alleged that the minister did not help the victims and her car moved away.

The children were taken to the hospital by the police, Nagar added.

"A speeding car with registration number (DL 3C BA 5315), which was part of the cavalcade of HRD minister Smriti Irani, hit a motorbike from behind on which Dr Ramesh Nagar and two children were going for a wedding party," states the FIR.

As per the FIR, the driver of the car fled after the accident.

According to the report, Irani was returning to Delhi from Vrindavan after attending a BJYM event.
