Shashi Tharoor's Delhi home robbed; copper Gandhi glasses gifted by PM Modi among many valuable items stolen

New Delhi: Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor's house in Delhi was burgled on November 29. Several valuable items, including idols and “copper Gandhi glasses” gifted to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were stolen.
The PM had given the Gandhi glasses to Tharoor as an award for his involvement in the Swachh Bharat campaign.
The accused are yet to be identified.
A case has been registered under IPC Section 380/457 (burglary) at Tughlak Road police station.
The burglary took place on the intervening night of November 28 and 29 at Tharoor's Lodhi Estate residence, which is in the well-guarded Lutyens Zone, and he was informed about the incident by his servants on November 29, a senior police officer said.
As per the complaint filed by Tharoor, the thieves climbed the wall of his official residence and entered his personal office after breaking the front door.
An antique of Nataraja idol, 12 small Ganesha idols, 10 small Hanuman idols, 12 32 GB pen drives and an Internet dongle were stolen.
Police have started probing the incident and have lifted fingerprints from his house.
Special teams have been formed to identify the accused, who are suspected to be vagabonds roaming in the area.
The patrolling has also been stepped up in the area that house residences of several politicians.
Police are questioning the staff of nearby houses to find any clues that could lead them to the burglars. There is no CCTV footage that could be found from Tharoor's residence but cops are scanning the footage from nearby houses to identify the accused.
