New Delhi: Former Uttar Pradesh DGP Prakash Singh on Saturday made an explosive revelations that senior officials' put pressure on him to let off bureaucrats and police officers involved in the Jat quota agitation in Haryana this year.
In an exclusive interview to TOI, Singh claimed that two deputy SPs were part of the entire carnage and the violence was taking place with their connivance. Singh also claimed that these two officer gave a free hand to the agitators that they cause as much damage as they want in the state within next few hours.
Talking about the action taken in the matter so far, Singh said, "Five IAS officers and five IPS officers have been indicted. There are some who can get away with a warning but there are adverse comments about five officers for their role in th Jat agitation."
On being asked why the report wasn't made public, Singh asserted, " I gave the report on 13th this month but objections were raised from some officials; however, the report will be made public by May end."
Departmental action has been recommended against 15 police personnel of Rohtak district, including 8 SHOs, on the basis of a report by Parkash Singh Committee which probed the role of police and civil administration officials during the Jat reservation stir. Prakash Singh is heading the committee, who have submitted the report on Jat agitation.
These erring police officials have been adversely commented upon for dereliction of duty in the government- appointed committee report, an official order stated today.
Around 90 officers were indicted for "deliberate negligence" during the Jat quota agitation by the committee and adverse comments were made against them in its report submitted to the chief minister on May 13.
