Ram Gopal Yadav an insider, I'm an outsider: Amar Singh

New Delhi: As Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav revoked the six-year expulsion of senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav, party leader Amar Singh on Thursday said that he doesn't want to comment on the Rajya Sabha MP, whom he termed as an 'insider'.

However, Singh, who has been accused by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of fomenting trouble in the Yadav clan, said: “I don't like commenting as Ram Gopal Yadav is an insider and will remain so and I’m an outsider and will remain so.”

Notably, Amar Singh is considered to be the close confidante of Shivpal Yadav, uncle of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

In the ongoing ugly unprecedented faction fighting in UP's ruling SP and the Yadav family, Akhilesh Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav are on one side, while Shivpal Yadav and Amar Singh are on the other. Recently, party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav publicly pulled up his son Akhilesh Yadav at a meeting which ended on a fiery note with sacked minister Shivpal calling Akhilesh a "liar".

The SP today revoked the six-year expulsion of senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav.

Ram Gopal would also continue to be the leader of the SP parliamentary group in the Rajya Sabha and also remain the national general secretary and national spokesman, all posts he held prior to his sudden expulsion from the party last month.

He was expelled from the party in October amid a raging war between Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle, state unit chief Shivpal Singh Yadav.

The action was taken against him after he publicly wrote letters in favour of Akhilesh and even accused Mulayam of being "surrounded by demonic forces" and "being jealous of the popularity of his son".
