New Delhi: A day after it was reported that 'Afzal Guru amar rahe', anti-India slogans were raised at Press Club of India (PCI), the Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR against unknown people on a complaint filed by the Press Club management.
The complaint was filed at Parliament Street Police Station.
The incident happened on Wednesday at a hall in the PCI, which was booked by Delhi University professor Ali Zafar for a discussion on the Kashmir issue.
Even posters hailing Afzal Guru were put up around the discussion hall.
However, when the discussion was initiated, several people present there raised the issue of Afzal Guru and shouted slogans like, 'Kashmir lekar rahenege' and hailed Afzal Guru, who was hanged on February 09, 2013.
Meanwhile, the PCI today distanced itself from an event in their premises in which anti-India slogans were raised during a commemorative meeting held to mourn the hanging of the 2001 Parliament attack convict.
Press Club chairman Rahul Jalali said that they were not aware about this event, adding that they were 'mislead'.
"Press Club has nothing to do with it. We give our halls on hire. This hall was booked by a senior member and we had no advance notice of what was going to happen. This hall was booked for a conference and every day half a dozen conferences take place here," he told ANI.
