Pakistan rakes up 'Kashmir freedom' issue as Rajnath advises Islamabad not to eulogise terrorists

Islamabad: On a day when Home Minister Rajnath Singh advised Pakistan not to glorify or eulogise terrorists as 'martyrs', in reference to the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, the latter again raked up the Kashmir issue.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan advised India not to “try and hide behind the word terrorism and divert attention from the demands of freedom”.

Kashmir has seen days of violent protests and subsequent curfew following the killing of Burhan Wani in an encounter with Indian security forces on July 8.

Rajnath Singh, in his address at the SAARC Home Ministers Conference in Islamabad earlier in the day, had taken a swipe at the host nation Pakistan saying, “There should be no glorification of terrorists as martyrs.”

In fact, Pakistan had even observed an official black day to protest the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani.

Chaudhary Nisar, meanwhile, said that Pakistan is always ready for talks.

“We never closed our doors,” he said.

“We should not just point fingers at each other and then go our ways. We should sit and talk out issues,” he added.

On a question as to why the Indian Home Minister did not the SAARC lunch, the Pakistani minister said, “The Indian Home Minister told me that he will attend the official lunch if I am attending, but unfortunately I had another meeting.”
