Kanpur: With the battle for Uttar Pradesh heating up, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday blamed the Opposition for the washout of the Winter Session of Parliament.
Addressing a massive Parivartan Rally in this industrial city, Modi said, “Wherever I have gone to in Uttar Pradesh in the past few days, I have observed that people of the state want change. There is not just a breeze in favour of change; it's a storm.”
“It seems that every citizen of Uttar Pradesh is working with full vigour to realise the commitment to bring change,” he said.
Referring to his government's focus on skill development, the Prime Minister said that many initiatives have been taken by the Government to empower the youth, especially in Uttar Pradesh.
Modi said that credit goes to the people of UP for ensuring that there is a government with the full majority at the Centre.
The government at the Centre is committed to elevating the lives of the marginal sections of the society, he added.
Taking a dig at the Opposition, Modi said, “Our agenda was to end corruption and black money but their agenda was to stall Parliament.”
They created a ruckus, resorted to sloganeering and even threw papers at the Speaker because they feared that they will be exposed, he said.
“When the government was going all out to expose the corrupt, they were doing everything to support them,” he said.
Hitting out aggressively at the members of the Opposition who stalled Parliament, Modi said, “Even people elected to municipalities think 50 times before committing such acts inside Parliament.”
Asserting that the people of the state are supporting the winds of change because they are fed up with the poor law and order situation in the state.
“People of Uttar Pradesh are fed up with goondaism. And people sitting in government are feeding honey to the goons. Till government is not changed in Lucknow this problem won't be solved,” he said.
