Spreading a message of peace and harmony, Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday offered chadar at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, on behalf on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

New Delhi: Spreading a message of peace and harmony, Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday offered chadar at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, on behalf on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Naqvi, he offered the 'chadar' on behalf on Prime Minister Modi.

Along with the chadar, Naqvi read out the message of peace and harmony given by PM Modi, at the dargah.

"Offered ‘Chadar’ at Ajmer Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz, symbol of peace & unity, on behalf of PM Shri @narendramodi," Naqvi tweeted after offering the 'chadar' at the dargah.

"Also read out PM’s message in which he wished that may ‘Urs’ bring peace & happiness across the world," he tweeted further.

The minister also expressed grief over the Kerala temple tragedy that left at least 102 people dead on Sunday.

"Thousands of people gathered, expressed condolences with family of those killed in Kollam incident & prayed for speedy recovery of injured," his tweet read.

Ajmer Sharif is the shrine of sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti in Rajasthan. The 'chadar' is a ceremonial cloth inscribed with religious verses, a traditional offering at Sufi shrines. Thousands of pilgrims have thronged Ajmer for the 804th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, revered equally by Hindus and Muslims around the world.
