Murli Manohar Joshi to be next President of India?

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi, who was once regarded as one of the three pillars of the party along with Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani, has launched his bid for the President's House.

Ironically, former BJP president Joshi had recently caught the attention for being seen nowhere on the posters and hoardings at the National Executive meeting in Allahabad, even in those that feature both Vajpayee and Advani.

Elections for the presidency are due in 2017 when incumbent Pranab Mukherjee's term expires.

According to India Today, Joshi recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat and many other senior BJP and RSS leaders in connection with the issue.

The PM met Joshi on May 22 at 7, RCR over dinner. The duo are believed to have discussed various matters, including the presidential candidacy.

India Today has quoted sources as saying that Joshi met Bhagwat at the RSS HQ in Nagpur in the first week of June.

The former HRD minister also met many other RSS leaders in Mumbai on June 6-7.
