Nagpur: In an explosive revelation, the anti-Naxal operations wing of Maharashtra has established the links of Umar Khalid with Left-wing extremists.
Anti-national activities accused DSU leader Umar Khalid is believed to have rushed to Nagpur to meet his JNU co-scholar Hem Mishra, arrested on suspicion of being a Maoist courier, when he was released on bail.
When Hem Mishra got bail in September 2015, Umar Khalid had travelled to Nagpur to receive him outside the Nagpur Central Jail, a TOI report said.
Umar Khalid, who was absconding after JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar's arrest in the JNU sedition case, returned to the campus on Sunday. He surrendered before police on late Tuesday night.
Umar Khalid is accused of raising anti-national slogans - 'Bharat ki barbaadi', 'Bharat ke tukde hazaar honge', etc - in JNU campus during an event to mark anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. According to Umar Khalid, Parliament attack convict terrorist Afzal Guru was a 'shaheed'.
