Kolkata: A Jet Airways shuttle bus on Tuesday rammed into a stationary Air India subsidiary Alliance Air flight at the city airport here. However, no casualty or injury was reported, an official said.

When questioned about the incident, the bus driver confessed that he dozed off and crashed into the aircraft, causing damage worth crores, reports NDTV.

The channel quoted Air India as saying that the plane worth Rs 400 crore was heavily damaged.

According to airport director AK Sharma, Momin Ali, the driver, had been on night duty. “He has said that he had fallen asleep,” said Sharma.

There were no reports of any injury or casualty, added Sharma.

While Air India said the incident was a "gross act of negligence", Jet Airways said that the coach accidentally collided with the stationary aircraft.

The incident happened at bay number 32 early Tuesday when the driver lost control of the bus and rammed it into the parked aircraft damaging one of its engines.

Due to the crash, Air India subsidiary Alliance Air's flights to Silchar and Shillong were cancelled as the plane was grounded.

A probe has been ordered to be conducted by regional safety manager, Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
