A popular Jat-Sikh face, Navjot Singh Sidhu had to pay the price for his run-ins with Punjab's dominant Badal family when he was dumped by the BJP in the 2014 General Elections. There were rumours that the cricketer-turned-politician could leave the party ahead of Assembly Elections in Punjab. His wife's resignation from the party has come as a shock.
