New Delhi: A report claimed on Thursday that Indian contacts of the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group have been asked to lie low by their bosses in Syria.
According to The Times of India, senior ISIS handlers have asked their Indian contacts to suspend their activities for some time as the National Investigation Agency has stepped up its crackdown against people suspected to be having links with the terror group.
In January this year, the NIA had launched a nationwide operation against an ISIS-inspired module believed to be headed by Mumbai-based techie Mudabbir Mushtaq Shaikh.
The newspaper quoted sources as saying that senior ISIS recruiter Shafi Armar alias Yousuf al Hindi has instructed Indians working for the terror group to halt or restrict their activity on the Internet and social media, especially the one aimed at recruiting young Muslims for the terror group.
The suspension in online activity and recruitment is aimed at preventing further police crackdown, the report said.
