International yoga festival begins in Haridwar

Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik on Thursday inaugurated the international yoga festival in Haridwar where over 400 teachers from 15 countries have assembled to participate in the six-day annual event.

Speaking?at the inaugural event, held at Dev Sanskriti Vishwa Vidyalaya, Naik?said that the ancient discipline of yoga?is the true "art of living".

Remembering?the?contribution?of Gayatri Parivar founder Shriram?Sharma in?nation building,?he?said the spiritual organisation is a model?of?unity?and?equality.

The University's Chancellor Pranav?Pandya stressed on the?need to adopt the yogic?discipline?in?life.?He?said the philosophy of yoga contains in itself what is needed for peace and sustainable prosperity of entire humanity and added that the way to physical?and?mental?health went through yoga.

Pro?Vice?Chancellor Chinmay Pandya, on the occasion, highlighted the various cultural exchanges that will take place during the six-day festival.
