Heavy rains will occur in coastal and central Karnataka, while the rains will be moderate to light in northern parts of the state with one or two spells in the old Mysuru region.

Bengaluru: Heavy rain is likely to occur at many places in coastal Karnataka and the Western Ghats over the next 24 hours, the Met office said on Wednesday.

"Heavy rains will occur in coastal and central Karnataka, while the rains will be moderate to light in northern parts of the state with one or two spells in the old Mysuru region," said a Met official.

Owing to strong winds from the westerly direction reaching 45-55 kmph along and off the state`s west coast, fishermen have been cautioned against going into the deep sea.

The maximum temperature will hover around 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the official said.

Agumbe, a hamlet in Shivamogga district, known as the Cherrapunji of the South, recorded 21 cm rainfall on Tuesday, followed by 19 cm at Hulikal, 16 cm at Shirali, 15 cm at Gerusoppa, 13 cm each at Siddapura and Ankola in Uttara Kannada district and 12 cm each at Mudubidre, Dharmasthala and Kottigehara in Malnad region.
