From Srinagar to Bikaner – Indian Air Force flexes its muscles along the western front

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force is conducting a major exercise along the western front from Srinagar to Bikaner that comes under the Western Air Command.

As per a TOI report, all 18 air bases and related installations in the region are on a high alert and are taking part in “Excercise Talcon” to check and improve operational preparedness and air defence.

As the IAF had carried out a similar exercise, that is Uri terror attack, the full-fledged exercise once again is highly unusual, the TOI quoted its sources as saying.

Importantly, the IAF is flexing its muscles amid reports that Pakistani F-16s have been very active across the border in recent days.

The report adds that the Indian Army is working in tandem with the IAF to strengthen the integrated air-land fighting machinery all along the 778 km border between India and Pakistan.

The IAF has also put its bases in the western sector under UAV surveillance to enhance security measures.

Pathankot air base, which came under attack from Pakistan-based terrorists earlier this year, also come under the Western Air Command.

All these measures comes amid discussions at the highest levels in Delhi to fine-tune India's defence preparedness.
