New Delhi: Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Tuesday declared that Eid will be on July 7th i.e. Thursday.
The announcement was made by Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid as moon could not be sighted on Tuesday.
"Eid will be celebrated on July 7th (Thursday) as moon could not be sighted today," Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari told media on Tuesday evening.
Earlier, in the day, it was announced that the all central government offices in the national capital will remain closed on July 7 due to Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Since Indian Muslims follow the lunar calendar, the sighting of monsoon determines the end of Ramadan.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the month succeeding Ramadan.
