New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Wednesday's night speech at a joint sitting of the US Congress won numerous accolades, but the Chinese media has not made any comment on it.
The Chinese media normally issues carefully-worded responses to India's acts. In fact, on Wednesday, Beijing had taken note of the Indo-US ties as saying that they are being ramped up to an "unprecedented level", but remained silent on the electric speech delivered by Modi.
Modi's address was charismatic enough to get standing ovation from the US lawmakers.
The closeness between India and the US gives jitters to China and the sentiments are very well expressed by the state-run media.
Modi's meeting with US President Barack Obama on Tuesday had, however, created flutters in the Chinese media, with a Chinese state-run paper saying that India cannot rise by "containing" China or picking one side against the other.
"Four visits to the US and seven meetings with President Barack Obama in two years - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ramped up the India-US relationship to an unprecedented level. How the two countries will engage with each other has raised heated discussions," an op-ed article in state-run Global Times had said.
