Bihar poll results not to have an impact on MP bypolls: Narendra Singh Tomar

Some Congress leaders have claimed that the Bihar election results will have an impact in the two bypolls as Congress and BJP have a direct fight there.

Indore: Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday said that Bihar Assembly election results will not have any impact on the November 21 bypolls to Ratlam-Jhabua Lok Sabha and Dewas Assembly seats, as claimed by Congress.

"Bihar election results will have no impact on these two bye-elections as the two states are different in nature and in Madhya Pradesh, BJP has a very strong base," Tomar told PTI.

Some Congress leaders have claimed that the Bihar election results will have an impact in the two bypolls as Congress and BJP have a direct fight there.

The Steel and Mines Minister also attacked Congress candidate from Ratlam-Jhabua Lok Sabha seat Kantilal Bhuria, alleging that he failed to do any development in the constituency in his capacity as the union minister in the earlier Congress-led government.

In February 2008, the foundation for Indore-Dahod rail line was laid when he was the union minister but he "failed" to give a momentum to the ambitious project after that.

Tomar claimed that BJP will retain Ratlam-Jhabua seat as people will not be "misled" by Congress and that they are aware of its past record.

While Congress has fielded former union minister Kantilal Bhuria from Ratlam-Jhabua seat, BJP has given ticket to sitting MLA from Petlawad, Nirmala Bhuria, the daughter of late Dileep Singh Bhuria who had won the last Lok Sabha poll from the seat.

Dileep Singh's death necessitated the by-poll.

BJP, in an apparent attempt to cash in on the sympathy factor, have fielded his daughter from the seat.
