New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed on Sunday said that alleging him for JNU protests “based on a fake twitter account is a prime example of how Indian government fools its own people”.
A twitter account with his name HafizSaeedLive has posted: “Alleging me for #JNU protest based on a Fake account in my name is a prime example of how Indian government fools its own people.”

Another post from the same twitter account said: “Reality of all Indian allegations, including 26/11 is evident from this fake twitter account scandal. Indeed a new low for Indian govt.”

One of the posts also said, “Pakistan's ideology is resonating from Srinagar to Delhi, can't hide reality. Kashmiris are writing history with their determination.”

Earlier in the day, Home Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that the event organised in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru had received "support" from Pakistan-based terror outfit LeT founder Hafiz Saeed, sparking a political storm.
"The incident at JNU has received support from Hafiz Saeed. This is a truth that the nation needs to understand," Singh told reporters in Allahabad, adding, "What has happened is very unfortunate."
After his remarks, the opposition parties have demanded him to provide evidence of his claim.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said it is a "very serious charge" to level against the students and that the evidence must be shared with all.
In a series of tweets, Omar said the Home Minister must go public with the evidence collected that enabled him to level the charge against the JNU students.
CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said the Home Minister has to come out and share the evidence he has with the country to back up his "serious allegation". CPI leader D Raja also demanded that the evidence be made public.
Police on Friday arrested JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar on sedition charges over the protest organised in the campus against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
The students protest over his arrest continued to rage on Sunday with the teachers and the opposition parties demanding his immediate release.
