New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at an all-party meet on Kashmir that the time has come for Pakistan to answer the world on atrocities against the people in Balochistan and PoK, activists from the Pakistani region on Saturday came out to thank the Indian government.

Several Baloch activists today reacted to the Indian prime minister's remarks and said the people are suffering in Balochistan.

“We the people of Balochistan, Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) thank you (PM Modi) for your support,” Baloch activist Naila Qadri Baloch was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.

“We, the people of Balochistan, are suffering. We hope that you (PM Modi) raise this issue in the United Nations General Assembly session in September,” she added.

Another activist Hammal Haider Baloch said it was the first time that any Indian prime minister has openly spoken for the people of Balochistan.

“We welcome PM Narendra Modi's statement to support freedom movement of Balochistan. This is the first time ever that an Indian PM has expressed his wish to support the Baloch people. It is a very crucial decision,” Hammal Haider said.

“Baloch people share common interests with India, we are secular and believe in democratic principles,” he said further.

Hammal Haider accused the Pakistani government of killing Baloch people.

“Pakistan has never complied with international rules, they're killing Baloch people. It is time for the world to come forward and support us,” he said.

“Pakistan is butchering Sindhi political activists and supporting religious groups which are a threat to the world,” he added.

While calling for exposing Pakistan on the issue of Balochistan, PM Modi had also reiterated yesterday that PoK is a part of Jammu and Kashmir.

Today, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh said, “It is our moral and national responsibility to stand by our brothers in PoK and also in Gilgit-Baltistan.”

“At the same time, to draw attention of the world to the kind of human rights violation that is taking place in that region,” he added.
