New Delhi: It's that time of the year again! Summers are finally here to stay and the oversized sweaters and big woolly jackets are back inside the huge trunks, waiting to be taken out the next winter season.

But right now, it's time to rustle up those cool, icy drinks and bring out the loose summery clothes and of course, the barbecue grills for those outdoor parties!

However, summers are also synonymous with sticky, hot and downright uncomfortable weather, when you just want to cool off at home with your airconditioner on full blast.

The scorching summer heat is hard on our bodies, our moods and our electric bills. Don’t let the temperature get you down, though.

Before the summer season hits its peak and takes you in its hold, it would be considered a wise decision to find out ways you can beat the sweltering summer days and we're here to tell you just that!

Scroll down below to find out!

Keep yourself hydrated. Water is the best coolant and keeps the body temperature down, while also avoiding heat-related physical problems. Avoid alcohol and caffeine as they can make dehydration worse.

Limit non-essential strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day. If you do want to indulge in something, try going for a swim.

Soak. Take a cool shower or bath to help you cool down.

Eat fresh. Try eating foods such as salads or fruits that have more water content.

Spend more time indoors and make use of fans or air-conditioners.

Seek shade when outside.

Rest. Make sure you get enough sleep and rest if you feel tired.

Dress down. Wear light weight clothing and be sun-smart. Wear loose clothing so that your skin can breathe.

Check on others including children, elderly, people with medical conditions and don't forget your pets!
