Woman succumbs to swine flu

A 26-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the state-run Gandhi Hospital here for swine flu, succumbed on Friday, health officials said.

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the state-run Gandhi Hospital here for swine flu, succumbed on Friday, health officials said.

The woman, a native of Medak district of Telangana, was in advanced stage of labour when she was admitted to the hospital for swine flu infection. She delivered a baby last week.

This was the second case of swine flu death in the city this year, hospital superintendent G Venkateshwarlu said.

On September 5, a 52-year-old woman from Musheerabad area here had died of swine flu at the Gandhi Hospital.

Nine positive cases of swine flu have been reported in Hyderabad since August 25. Over 70 people had succumbed to the infection in the state last year.
