Injectable contraceptive costing $1 to be in India soon!

New Delhi: India is all set to roll out an injectable contraceptive that costs one dollar.

According to the report in Hindustan Times, Co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Melinda Gates said that this injectable contraceptive will help to prevent conception for three months.

In India, the use of contraceptive has been increasing but not fast enough.

According to India’s National Family Health Survey data, contraceptive use among married women (aged 15-49 years) was 56.3% in 2005-06 (an increase of 8.1 percentage points from 98-99), as reported.

The rotavirus vaccine which is manufactured by India’s Bharat Biotech will costs US$ 1 as part of government immunisation programme.
