Haryana panchayat elections 2016: 'Save Girl campaign' logo to be stamped on voters

Polling for Panchayat elections would be conducted in three phases starting January 10, 2016 in Haryana.

Jind: To create awareness about the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' programme in Haryana, the state government is planning to get the logo of the campaign to be stamped on the hand of the voter in addition to the indelible ink applied on the finger during the forthcoming panchayat elections.

Haryana Women and Child Minister Kavita Jain told this to reporters on Sunday at a function here.

Polling for Panchayat elections would be conducted in three phases starting January 10, 2016 in Haryana, where 1,10,09,317 people are eligible to cast their ballot, of which 59,04,696 are men and 51,04,621 are women.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the nationwide campaign from Haryana's Panipat town in January this year to promote the cause of the girl child.

The campaign was launched from Haryana as the state has the worst sex ratio at 879 females per 1,000 males.

The child sex ratio in Haryana is the worst among all the states in the country.
