Thanks to natural forces, Antarctic temperature falls! But it's temporary

New Delhi: Till the late 20th century, Antarctic Peninsula remained the fastest warming places of our planet. But a strange phenomena was observed by the climate scientist in the last 15 years. They found that the Antarctic Peninsula has actually started cooling since 1990, according to a latest research. However, environmentalists are not surprised by the results of because they know that the cooling is minor and global warming will win the race in longer run.

They also know that some natural variations superimpose temporary ups and downs on top of greenhouse gas-induced warming everywhere on Earth. This extensive research was done by the British Antarctic Survey team and the findings are published in the journal Nature.

The study revealed that the change in temperature is related to the change in wind pattern which is partly driven by the recovery of ozone layer that is shielding Antarctica from solar radiation. The authors of the study also stress that their findings are restricted to a small part of the Antarctic Peninsula, and do not imply cooling across the ice sheet as a whole, as per Carbon Brief.
