Bhubaneswar: Following a month-long strike by school teachers, the Odisha government on Thursday announced hike in the monthly remuneration of about 85,000 Siksha Sahayaks and Gana Sikshaks.
School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said that the revised remuneration of these teachers would be retrospectively implemented from December 1, 2015.
He said the announcement was made after the hike was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The revised monthly remuneration of 27,645 Siksha Sahayaks, excluding their EPF, would now be Rs 7,400 as against Rs 5,200 earlier, while 34,846 Junior Siksha Sahayaks, would now get Rs 9,200 as against Rs 5,200 earlier. 256 trained matriculates, would get Rs 6400 as against Rs 3700 earlier, while 16,868 trained Plus Two teachers would now get Rs 7,000 as against Rs 4,000 earlier, excluding EPF.
Besides, 536 non-trained Matriculate Gana Sikshaks, would now get Rs 5,600 as against Rs 3,200 earlier, while 4,852 non-trained Plus Two teachers would get Rs 6,400 as against Rs 3,700 earlier, the minister said, adding that the amount was apart from the EPF.
The annual expenditure of the state government on this head would go up from Rs 648.64 crore to Rs 925.59 crore, Mishra said.
