Gita Jayanti: Private schools to be involved, stalls to promote government programmes in Haryana

The 'Gita Jayanti Samaroh' will be organised in a grand manner between December 6 and 8 this year in which public and private schools would be involved and separate stalls would be set up to promote government programes.

Presiding a meeting here today on International Level Gita Jayanti Samaroh Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said separate stalls would be set up at the venue to highlight government's various welfare policies and programmes.

During celebrations, different programmes, seminars and workshops on various government initiative like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachta Abhiyan shall also be organised so as to generate awareness about them, he said.

Gita Jayanti marks the birthday of Bhagvad-Gita, the sacred Hindus text.

Khattar said Gita Shloka Recital, Declamation and Quiz Competitions should be organised in schools at block and district level and added involvement of private schools should be ensured.

He said people from different communities from the country and abroad should be invited to help disseminate the message of Gita worldwide.

He directed that marathon race should be organised in different cities and towns in run up to the celebrations for promotion of Gita.

Besides these, a state level Gita Jayanti Samaroh is to be organised in Kurukshetra on December 10, said an official release.

Contribution of youth from Haryana in the armed forces should be highlighted, Khattar said, adding though Haryana constitutes only two per cent of the total population of the country, its contribution in the armed forces is 10 per cent.

The Chief Minister said the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and other religious organisations of the country and abroad should also be involved to ensure maximum participation.

He said a separate stall be set up at the venue to highlight various welfare policies and programmes of different state government departments.
