Delhi: The results of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2016 was declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday.
The results were declared on CTET’s official website - www.ctet.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in.
Exams for CTET was conducted on September 18 at 851 centres in 91 cities in India and abroad.
As per CBSE, 6,53,156 candidates had registered for the exam and the board had deployed 851 centre superintendents, 1824 centre observers, and 527 CBSE representatives for the smooth conduct of this examination.
CBSE said that 2,32,442 candidates had registered for the first paper (Class I to V) of which 26,638 qualified.
It added that for the second paper (Classes VI to VIII), 4,74,513 candidates registered, out of which 42,928 qualified.
In order to check the results, candidates can go to CTET’s official website and enter their roll number.
For future reference they can take a print-out of the result.
However, as per a disclaimer by the board - "Neither NIC nor CBSE is responsible for any inadvertent error that may have crept in the results being published on NET. The results published on net are for immediate information to the examinees. This cannot be treated as original certificate. The original certificate will be issued to the qualified candidates by the board."
The board also said that "the marksheet of all the candidates who have appeared and certificate of those candidates who have qualified shall be dispatched shortly."
What the board says:
"In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) vide Notification dated 23rd August, 2010 and 29th JULY, 2011 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for class I to VIII. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in Clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that he/she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE."
