New Delhi: Animals show the same emotions as humans when it comes to their loved ones. They become protective, possessive and defensive if and when faced with danger.
A buffalo in the forests of South Africa, demonstrated the same emotions when her young calf was attacked by hungry lionesses.
Every time a lioness came near the calf, the mother threw herself in between the two and tried to chase the lionesses away.
The buffalo put up a good fight, but was outnumbered three to one. If she tried to fight off one lioness, the second one came up from behind and attacked the calf.
Unfortunately, it seems as if the buffalo was fighting a lost battle, since the helpless little one couldn't make it.
The mother buffalo was still trying to fight off two lionesses at a distance, when the third one finally succeeded in catching its prey.
