New Delhi: Looks like Delhiites will have no respite from toxic air any time soon as particulate matter levels are expected to deteriorate even further over the next couple of days touching 214 micrograms per cubic metre over a 24-hour average, as per a Times of India report.

According to the Institute of Indian Tropical Meteorology, PM2.5 levels are expected to rise to about 214 micrograms per cubic metre on Monday - more than three times the permissible levels of 60 - resulting from sudden change in wind conditions.
On Sunday, the reading was 161 mg per cum, bad enough to have Delhi’s air quality labelled 'very poor'.

Meanwhile, till Sunday, experts said that the levels of the dangerous fine particulate matter PM2.5 had been comparatively better than what was seen in 2014, but it doesn't mean the air quality is good.
Delhi has been grappling with high levels of pollution post Diwali celebrations with people advised to stay home or wear masks outside.
It is said that cold temperatures during the winter months make it more difficult for pollutants to disperse.
