New Delhi: Taking up the cause of auto-rickshaw drivers in the national capital, Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to meet their "genuine demands" by November 26.

Yadav has requested Kejriwal to meet the demands of auto drivers, including registration of e324 autos that have been issued letter of intents (LOIs) by the Transport Department, permission to 608 drivers to purchase autos against the LOIs, and issuing of LOIs to 7,326 applicants.

"I was shocked to find that the party which literally rode to power in auto-rickshaw has let them down after coming to power," he wrote in his letter.

He reminded Kejriwal that it had been decided by his government that fresh permits would be issued for 10,000 autos by the end of December 2015 in view of odd-even scheme which was launched on January 1 this year.

Asking Kejriwal to meet the demands by November 26, Yadav warned him that the auto drivers may resort to protest if he failed to ensure action on their demands.
